McLarens company Airclaims, the largest provider of survey and loss adjusting services to the global aviation industry, has opened an office in Vancouver, British Columbia. The new office extends Airclaims’ Canadian footprint, which also includes offices in Toronto and Montreal, into the west of the country. It also represents a further step in increasing the company’s Risk and Asset Management service (RAMS) capabilities in Canada and North America.

McLarens, the global loss adjuster with a niche focus on commercial claims, has announced a number of changes to its global and USA leadership teams as part of a restructure aimed at providing better operational management across the business. Among the changes, McLarens stalwart Gary Brown has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of McLarens Global Limited. Steve Whitmarsh will assume the Regional Manager role of the USA and Canada; George Wasielke becomes Eastern Regional Manager of the USA. In addition to improving operational management, the changes will free CEO and Chairman of the Board Vern Chalfant to focus on strategy, acquisitions and global initiatives.
Drew Wendland, Executive General Adjuster at McLarens, will give a presentation on Frequent Property Losses and How to Minimize Them at the University of California’s Risk Summit 2014. The summit, which will be held at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, CA from 16-18th of June, is an annual gathering of University of California professionals that provides an opportunity to share perspectives, best practices, challenges and solutions that can be used to improve efficiency and manage risk in the workplace.

An 8.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Northern Chile Tuesday night. The U.S. Geological Survey stated that the quake was reasonably shallow at 12.5 miles (20 km) below the seabed. The quake’s epicentre was approximately 100 km northwest of the mining port of Iquique – near the Peruvian border.
