Biography

John graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos in 2011. Undergraduate curriculum was comprised of a Bachelors of Arts in Economics, a Minor in Spanish, and an emphasis on Latin American Business. During his undergraduate career, John immersed himself in Latin American culture by studying abroad at the Instituto Tecnologio de Monterrey in Monterrey, México.

John has developed his claim handling skills through a constant pursuit of continuing education and willingness to handle larger, more complex claims. Notable professional certifications include: Wardlaw’s Basic Property Adjusting Course (2011), Property Technical Certification (2013), BWU Communication Skills Class (2014) and achieving the designation ‘Associate in Claims’ from The Institutes (2014) and ‘Associate in General Insurance Studies’ (2020). John maintains active licenses in 17 states including a Texas license, which is reciprocal in 32 additional states. Handling claims over a wide geographic area has developed an acute awareness of local claim related laws and jurisdictional issues.

John has a wide range of experience across various classes of business types such as rural / farm properties, manufacturing complexes, retail locations, industrial facilities, habitational (single and multi-family) buildings, educational establishments, and municipal jurisdictions. John’s claims experience also includes a variety of coverages and loss types such as property damage, time element, builder’s risk, and stock. He has assisted in the management of a nationwide property account which generated over 300 claims annually. Responsibilities included: assigning claims, management of assisting adjusters, communicating with brokers, and dispute resolution. Catastrophe experience includes involvement in 56 PCS designated catastrophes, including: Hurricane Harvey (2017), COVID (2020), and the Winter Storm Uri (2021). Successful adjustments include commercial property losses in excess of $10 million.

John has developed a proven ability to work with a variety of experts during the adjustment process. Said ability includes identifying the need for expert involvement, delegating work, and controlling expert costs; and most importantly, analyzing expert conclusions to understand, and communicate their application to the claim.
