With a degree in agriculture and practical agricultural experience, John started his adjusting career with a large UK firm in 1979, handling a range of agricultural losses and developing into domestic and commercial work. Over the next 15 years, with this and another major UK firm, he rose to Associate Director level and his work expanded to include some Equine, Marine and Construction work.
In 1994, John established his own practice, specializing in Agriculture, Equine & Bloodstock. In 2002, this practice merged with others to form Agrical, of which John remained a Director until it was acquired by McLarens in 2013.
NOTABLE ASSIGNMENTS
- Public Liability claim for overspraying of specialist long-cane raspberry crop. The grower supplied commercial supermarket growers throughout in UK and Europe, with potentially major repercussions (£750 K)
- Liability claim arising from helicopter overflight of major poultry producer. Claim repudiated and 2 directors convicted of fraud (£100 K)
- Numerous claims over £250k for Thoroughbreds and particularly Sports Horses under ARM or LOU policies
- Numerous Public Liability and overflying claims on behalf of Motor and Aviation Insurers, Utilities and other Agencies involving livestock, particularly Equine and Exotics. A significant proportion of such claims are rejected in whole or in part
