With nearly eight years of experience in the insurance industry, Ignacio has specialized in the analysis and adjustment of claims related to the construction and operation of a wide range of industries, including high-rise buildings, highways, hospitals, mining operations, hydroelectric power plants, railways, photovoltaic parks, multipurpose facilities, and water and wastewater treatment plants.
As part of the claims handling and assessment process, he has worked closely with subject matter experts from various disciplines depending on the nature of each loss. His responsibilities include preparing technical reports for insurers and policyholders, as well as conducting coverage assessments based on root cause analysis reports and policy terms and conditions.
He has experience in the interpretation and application of Property Damage, Construction All Risks (CAR), and Erection All Risks (EAR) insurance policies, including policy clauses and conditions commonly used in international insurance and reinsurance markets. In addition, he has actively participated in the adjustment and evaluation of complex losses, maintaining direct interaction with insurers, brokers, and reinsurers throughout the technical review of claims, coverage analysis, and loss assessment process.
This experience has enabled him to participate in the handling of major catastrophe losses, perform coverage and loss assessments for complex claims, and develop strong professional relationships with policyholders, insurance companies, brokers, reinsurers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Additionally, his engineering background and professional development have provided him with a broad understanding of operational processes and the risks associated with business disruptions across various industries, including mining, energy, infrastructure, and utilities.
Among his most notable contributions is his involvement in the handling of losses associated with Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico between 2017 and 2018, the Copiapó floods, as well as several major earthquakes and other catastrophic events throughout the region.
