We spoke with Nancy Greenidge, National General Adjuster, to discover her favorite experience with McLarens, her passions outside of work, and her advice for someone beginning their career.

What has been one of the most interesting or rewarding experiences you have had at McLarens?

My past seven years at McLarens have offered many opportunities towards advancement with the company.  I love working with the team, for the team and attending national events to share our brand at the national level as well as the local market.  In addition to my everyday work as an adjuster I enjoy the encouragement to assist with marketing myself as well as others within my circle and mentoring others to grow towards achieving a level of excellence.  McLarens encourages us to be involved in our communities and other related organizations. I am currently in my second term year as President of the OCAA (Oregon Casualty Adjusters Association) and along with other peers of McLarens take part in leading the annual Symposium, golf tournament, annual September Kick-off, Holiday Party and bowling event.  Within OCAA we have build in a scholarship fund to assist those preparing for or in college.  Our December Holiday Party includes a toy drive for a local charity.

I would have to say that one of my most rewarding assignments for McLarens was while working on one of the Hurricane CAT teams down in Texas.  The devastation was beyond words in some cases and to be able to meet with those people, inspect their property or equipment and find that most were so appreciative.  Despite the turmoil they had gone through, in most cases after visiting and showing concern for their loss, I witnessed a smile on many faces and was verbally told that they felt we actually cared about their loss and wanted to do all we could to gather and document the facts, scope and assist to do what we could to facilitate the loss they had suffered.

What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have a personal passion?

Singing and Travel – Restoring Hope

My family has been very active for the past 30 years in the Portland Singing Christmas Tree which is held every holiday season and reaches out to thousands of people at a large auditorium in Portland, OR.  Together, my husband and children have sang and reached out into the community to spread a little joy.  We also sing together as a family at local area churches and private and corporate events both locally and nationally. We have produced six personal Family CD’s solo and group.

We love to travel as a family and our favorite vacation is cruising together.

We also serve and offer support to “Called To Rescue” which reaches out against sex trafficking and kidnapping.  We have a passion for the lost and in restoring hope to those who feel hopeless or desperate.

What advice would you give someone starting out in this field or considering it as a career option?

Get along side someone who is seasoned in the field.  Get as much education in the field you wish to excel in.  Set goals and make a plan to achieve those goals. Ask questions!!!!  Work harder than is expected – don’t do enough to just get by.  Seek to be a leader!!  Be a bridge builder.

Be willing to help those around you and work together to accomplish a bright future.  Don’t be a know it all.  There will always be someone that knows something you do not.  Teamwork makes the dream work!
