Alan worked within the financial services industry for over 25 years, starting off with Commercial Union as a filing clerk before quickly progress to a property claims handler and then a personal injury claims handler with Aviva. Then he spent 18 years with AXA Insurance with his final years there as a Senior Fraud Investigator. During his time with AXA, he also managed a damage disputes team of claim handlers and a team of SIU Investigators in Dublin before moving back to the SIU operations in Belfast.
Since 2004, he has specialised in insurance fraud investigations with AXA Insurance before leaving in 2018 to offer independent claims field and fraud investigations to the insurance industry with NI Claims Investigations Ltd.
Alan has often attended court to provide witness evidence in respect of his investigations into suspicious insurance claims and also been called as a witness for criminal prosecution cases; which has included providing witness evidence in front of a jury in respect of an insurance claim fraud case. Many of the cases he has served as lead investigator have made the news.
In June 2021, Alan joined McLarens to help further develop a strong offering in Insurance Fraud investigations in Ireland.
