Alan Gallacher is Technical Director at McLarens Indonesia and an Executive Adjuster with more than 40 years of international loss adjusting and claims management experience. He is recognised as one of the region’s leading technical adjusters, specialising in complex energy, power, engineering, construction and major property losses, together with associated business interruption and delay in start-up claims. Throughout his career, Alan has advised insurers, reinsurers and multinational clients on some of the most significant and technically challenging losses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean and the Americas.
Alan has extensive experience managing high-value losses across the power generation and utilities, downstream petrochemical, mining, pulp and paper, manufacturing and industrial sectors. His expertise encompasses machinery breakdown, construction and engineering, onshore energy, property damage, business interruption (BI), Delay in Start-Up (DSU/ALOP) and natural catastrophe claims. He has also led multidisciplinary catastrophe response teams following major earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes, providing strategic technical leadership during some of the industry’s most significant loss events.
Having first worked in Indonesia in 1999, Alan has spent more than two decades supporting clients throughout the Indonesian market while also undertaking assignments across the Asia-Pacific region. As Technical Director, he provides technical leadership, mentoring and guidance across McLarens’ specialist practices, supporting adjusters on complex and high-value claims while helping to maintain the highest standards of technical excellence and client service.
Alan began his loss adjusting career in the United Kingdom in 1984 before undertaking international assignments throughout Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Mexico, Bermuda, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, developing extensive expertise across a broad range of industries and jurisdictions. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (FCILA), Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII), Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management (FIRM), Fellow of the Institute of European Loss Adjusters (FUEDI-ELAE), and a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP). He is widely recognised for his technical expertise, international experience and leadership in the management of complex major losses.
