With a family history in shipping, Gerjo started his career sailing on inland barges within western Europe. He gained a lot of experience on a technical side during several years of sailing on chemical and liquefied gas tank barges. Also the knowledge of the treatment of products and the hazards are well known.
After sailing he decided to get a shore to become a liquid cargo surveyor. Performing surveys on small inland barges with 500 metric tons up to seagoing vessels with 90.000 metric tons. With a variety of products passing by, like fuel and heating oils, chemicals and bio renewables, Gerjo specialized in onboard blending of gasoline and loss control.
After several positions in different departments in the TIC-industry, a new challenge came along. With a broad interest in Loss Adjusting and wide experience, Gerjo joined McLarens.
