Mal started his career in the British Army where he completed an apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering at Arborfield Apprentice College. He became a Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (REME) and left the British Army in 1990. From there, he worked as a Senior Licensed Aircraft Engineer for both British Airways and Cathay Pacific both in heavy and line maintenance on Boeing 747’s. His career progressed and he became Engineering Manager at Cathay Pacific, a position which he held for ten years.
He then moved on to Deutsche Structured Finance (DSF) as a Technical Asset Manager, where he was responsible for all aspects of contracting in respect to engineering detail, risk management, management of lease transits, condition audits and general protection / control of aircraft assets.
In 2007, Mal started working with GAB Robins Aviation as an Aviation Insurance Surveyor & Adjuster. In 2015, he expanded the team and joined Crawford Aviation. In April 2018, Mal and his team have become part of McLarens Aviation expanding our European operations.
A few of his notable assignments include Operational Risk Audits in South America, Africa, and Asia, including Venezuela, Nigeria, and Myanmar. Numerous Airline engine FOD claims at German based MRO’s.
