Biography

Torben Bell is the Managing Director of McLarens Australia, responsible for leading the firm’s Australian operations, including strategy, client relationships, operational performance, systems, and financial oversight. With more than 25 years’ experience in insurance services and complex loss management, Torben brings deep technical credibility alongside a proven track record of senior executive leadership.

Since joining McLarens in May 2025, Torben has focused on strengthening the firm’s market position, enhancing service capability, and building a high-performance culture aligned to client needs in an increasingly complex risk environment. He leads the Australian business with full accountability for governance, performance, and sustainable growth.

Prior to McLarens, Torben served as Managing Director (Australia & New Zealand) at Integra Technical Services, operating in a dual capacity as Executive Adjuster and Managing Director. In this role, he led a highly specialised adjusting team across the region while also personally managing complex claims investigations.

Earlier in his career, Torben held senior leadership roles with Crawford & Company in Australia and South Africa, including Head of Major & Complex Loss in Australia and Head of Global Technical Services in South Africa. In these roles, he was responsible for national specialist teams, large-scale commercial loss portfolios, and full operational oversight of a business employing approximately 125 people.

Torben’s career spans leadership and technical roles across Australia, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region, giving him a broad international perspective on complex claims, reinsurance, and risk management across sectors including commercial property, construction, mining, power and energy, renewables, and marine.

As a leader, Torben is recognised for balancing technical rigour with commercial insight and people-focused leadership. He is committed to developing talent, strengthening governance, and delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes for clients while supporting long-term business success.

Torben holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Higher Diploma in Education. He is a qualified member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA), a Certified Insurance Professional with ANZIIF, an Associate of the Institute of Loss Adjusters of Southern Africa (ILASA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA).
