Earthquake Strikes Nepal

Nepal – Saturday 25th April 2015

The severe earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale which struck 80 kilometres north-west of Kathmandu has resulted in extensive devastation across a large area of the country accompanied by significant loss of life and injuries.

Numerous structures (including many heritage listed historical buildings and monuments) have been damaged or destroyed as have key items of infrastructure.

McLarens has assembled a CAT response team currently based in India comprising of surveyors and engineers ready to assist the local and international insurance communities. Deployment is expected in the next few days just as soon as conditions on the ground are declared safe. Aftershocks continue to threaten stability and rescue efforts remain ongoing.
