We spoke with Robyn vom Saal to learn more about her experience with McLarens and what attributed to her recognition in McLarens’ global employee award program, McLarens Platinum Circle.

What has been one of the most interesting or rewarding experiences you have had at McLarens?
I have been with McLarens for over 11 years and have had many wonderful opportunities and experiences during that time. The ones that stand out most in my mind are those involving our people and clients. I am fortunate to have great colleagues in our San Francisco office and enjoy the time we spend bouncing ideas off each other at the office or outside of working hours, either at a ball game, brewery, or on a hike. I have also been working with some insureds and brokers for many years (in some cases longer than I have been at McLarens) and I value those professional relationships that have developed into friendships.

I am very excited to have been selected for this year’s McLarens Platinum Circle and looking forward to meeting colleagues from around the world when we convene in Dubai.  It will definitely be a highlight of my time with McLarens!

What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have a personal passion?
Outside of work, life is a whirlwind! My family and I are always on the go. We live just outside San Francisco near wonderful park lands and beaches, and we are often found stand-up paddleboarding, trail running, hiking, climbing, surfing, or doing karate. I also love to cook (and eat!) and there’s nothing better than preparing dinner with a houseful of family and friends.

What advice would you give someone starting out in this field or considering it as a career option?
As with everything in life, work is what you make of it. I love what I do, and the people I work with, and that makes coming to work easy, even when the to-do lists are long. Adjusting claims is a rewarding, demanding and never-ending job, and it’s certainly one that doesn’t respect a 9-5 lifestyle. But, with those demands comes rewarding and satisfying work. Come in with a good attitude, integrity and willingness to do the work, and the rest may not be easy, but it will fall into place.
