McLarens Re-enters Australian Market

McLarens, the global independent loss adjusting firm, is pleased to announce its re-entry to the Australian market. Previously, McLarens companies supported the high volume, low value personal lines space here. Elsewhere around the world the company provides independent loss adjusting services for predominantly commercial losses underwritten by Lloyds syndicates and other insurance carriers as well as self-insured programs. In 2009 the decision was taken to exit the business, and the Australian operation was merged with Freemans, now renamed Cerno.

Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific commercial business growth has increased dramatically over the past 5 years, along with the need for broad commercial coverage loss adjusting networks in the region. Clients with whom McLarens has policy nominations for loss adjusting have requested additional Asia Pacific coverage, including Australia. It is with this background McLarens will build a new network of experienced and specialized commercial adjusters.

Martyn Wicht has accepted the newly-created position of General Manager McLarens Australia with effect from 1st April 2014. Previously associated with McLarens for nearly 20 years, prior to the Cerno (MYI Freemans) merger in 2009 Martyn was part of McLarens (Queensland) Pty Ltd.

Martyn will be responsible for all aspects of the build-out of the new McLarens network in Australia, including talent identification, recruiting, branch locations, and most importantly, client liaison. He will report to Ian Lavin, Regional Managing Director Asia Pacific.

Mr. Lavin said “Our initial thrust will be offices in the mainland state capitals, and they will start to become operational from mid-May. McLarens owned companies already operate in Australia, but not in the general adjusting space. Part of McLarens’ global IT operation are here, as are the offices of Airclaims, the McLarens company which focuses on aviation loss adjusting. We have deep ties to Australia, and look forward to delivering the same high quality services here that our clients have grown to expect worldwide. ”
