LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – FEBRUARY 2026: Leading global insurance services provider McLarens has announced two senior appointments to support the strategic growth of its UK specialist practices. Michael Wilson joins as Head of Marine UK & Ireland, and Richard Bradshaw as Latent Defect Lead, two newly created roles that signal continued investment in technical expertise and support McLarens’ broader strategy to develop specialist propositions aligned with evolving market needs.
Michael Wilson, a senior marine practitioner with over two decades’ experience, will lead the UK & Ireland Marine practice. His appointment enhances McLarens’ UK marine proposition and marks a key step in strengthening the firm’s global marine capabilities. Michael will work alongside Global Head of Marine John Culpitt to deliver a marine proposition across key areas, including marine hull and machinery, cargo, ports and terminals, P&I liability, and marine-related casualty claims.
Michael’s experience spans technical marine losses and senior leadership roles in the London Market. His appointment ensures McLarens can better support UK-based marine clients while contributing to the company’s ambition to deliver a globally consistent, high-quality marine service offering.
Richard Bradshaw, a recognised leader in construction and warranty claims, will head up McLarens’ UK Latent Defects (LD) practice. With over 20 years’ industry experience, Richard brings specialist expertise in structural warranty and latent defects claims. His appointment comes at a critical time for the market, as recent UK legislation – including the Building Safety Act – introduces new regulatory requirements and creates opportunities for new carriers and MGAs to enter the LD space.
McLarens has already been supporting select clients in latent defects for over five years. With Richard’s appointment, the business will now scale its LD offering to meet the increasing demand for expert-led claims solutions in this long-tail, technical class.
Steven Wallace, EMEA Managing Director at McLarens, commented: “These appointments reinforce our commitment to growing in areas where we already have a foothold and where demand is strong. Marine and Latent Defects are highly technical lines where clients rely on specialist knowledge, and both Michael and Richard bring deep expertise, credibility and leadership. This is a strategic investment in our people and in delivering best-in-class service and better outcomes for our clients.”
The announcement follows the company’s continued expansion across EMEA and aligns with McLarens’ strategy to build specialist practices that support complex and commercial markets through targeted expertise and integrated global delivery.
