Kabil’s professional journey began after completing his Diploma in Electrical Engineering (DEE) in 1992. He started his career as an Electrical Officer on a Merchant Navy vessel, where he served for two years. Thereafter, he worked as a Loss Adjuster with an independent firm of Insurance Surveyors & Loss Assessors for five years, specializing in handling Marine Cargo, Marine Hull, and Property claims.
Subsequently, he obtained the Associateship qualification in insurance and acquired a Surveyor License while working with a corporate surveyor firm. He later obtained the Fellowship qualification in insurance and also completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech). He has since continued his professional career with McLarens Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors India Pvt. Ltd. to date.
Kabil worked with the insurance surveyor firm M/s. J. Bashir & Associates, Surveyors and Loss Adjusters, from 2005 to 2010, where he conducted various loss surveys relating to Marine Cargo, Marine Hull, and Property claims over a period of five years.
He later joined Cunningham Lindsey Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors India Pvt. Ltd. from 2010 to 2016 (approximately seven years). The company is currently known as Proclaim Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors Pvt. Ltd.. During this tenure, he handled more than a thousand claims relating to Marine, Engineering, and Property losses, including catastrophe losses arising from the 2015 Chennai Floods.
He subsequently joined McLarens Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, in 2016 and has continued to work there to date (approximately ten years). During this tenure, he has handled several hundred claims and has played a significant role in managing catastrophic losses, including those arising from the 2018 Kerala Floods and the 2021 Chiplun–Khed Floods, where he was actively involved in surveying and assessing losses and leading teams conducting various surveys.
He has been actively engaged in handling catastrophe (CAT) loss claims, including those resulting from Cyclone Tauktae, other cyclones, and floods in Maharashtra and Gujarat, as well as other major property losses. His expertise also extends to handling major machinery breakdowns, explosions, property fires, and flood claims across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nādu, Kerala, Delhi region, and on a Pan-India basis.
